MPF Webinar: Native Grassland Reconstructions for Wildlife and Grazing

  • Chert Glades Master Naturalist Joplin, MO United States (map)

Native grassland reconstructions offer a sustainable approach to feeding livestock while providing environmental benefits. Native pastures that include grasses and forbs for grazing animals also provide habitat and food for pollinating insects and birds, and help protect water quality. Learn from Rick and Jerod how to make the transition on your own land and the impact it can have.

Rick Rath Rick Rath is the district supervisor in the Frontier District for the Missouri Department of Conservation. Prior to that, he was an MDC Private Lands Conservationist in Dade, Cedar, and Polk counties. In that role, Rath specialized in prairie management and incorporating native forages into grazing systems.

MPF’s Director of Prairie Management Jerod Huebner oversees prairie management planning and execution including invasive species control, prescribed fire, and all other aspects of the stewardship of MPF’s prairies.
